How Metal Clay Becomes Jewellery
When a piece is crafted from Metal Clay, it’s first fully dried and then fired in a kiln. During this process, the organic binder burns away, leaving behind solid metal. From there, I use a variety of jewellery-making techniques to complete each piece.
This can include soldering, applying gold leaf through the ancient art of Keum Boo, and adding a patina to enhance the silver’s character. Finally, each piece is carefully hand-polished to highlight the intricate details inspired by the natural elements.
My pendants are paired with elegant 1.4mm Belcher sterling silver chains. Earrings feature a choice of surgical steel hooks, sterling silver endless hoops, or surgical steel studs. My adjustable bracelets are made with durable 3.3mm Belcher chains and secure lobster clasps. For more details on each design and materials, please check out the individual product listings.
What is Metal Clay?
Metal Clay is an incredible material made from recycled metal particles combined with an organic binder and water to create a clay-like substance. The silver used in Metal Clay is sustainably recycled from industrial processes and electronic products, making it an eco-friendly choice for jewellery making.
There are various brands of Metal Clay, but I work with Art Clay, which I’ve found to be a reliable and beautiful option for both silver and copper creations. Its quality and versatility make it perfect for bringing my designs to life.

Wild about Nature
Hello, I’m Charlotte, and I create handmade jewellery in Staffordshire, UK.
Each piece is thoughtfully designed and crafted using treasures from nature - leaves, flowers, and shells - as well as inspired by the beauty of the natural world. I use a combination of Metal Clay and traditional silversmithing techniques to bring these creations to life.
I work with high-quality, eco-conscious materials, including recycled silver from Art Clay, sterling silver, and copper clays. Each item comes in a kraft card box featuring my illustrations as well as a fabric pouch along with a polishing cloth, so it's ideal for gifting, storage and travelling with jewellery. Find something special to treasure for yourself or gift to a loved one.
